Stormwater Improvements

STATUS: On-going

FUNDING: Pending. Applied for federal funding program in late 2020.

THE STORY: The Village of Shadyside has historically been subjected to flooding. In fact, their name is synonymous with one of worst flood disasters in Ohio’s history. The Village has taken efforts over the years to improve their community, yet the Village of Shadyside continues to flood.

One area within the Village warranting more analysis, is the downtown area. A significant amount of stormwater/floodwater is generated from the hillside and directly affects the local school district as well as several homes in the community. In fact, during a recent flooding event, a number of homes were knocked off their foundations.

The Village of Shadyside wants to conduct a study to determine the best course of action. Additionally, the village has applied for BRIC funding.
